St Julians – Paceville : Malta’s Cosmopolitan Region
St Julians developing into a major tourist destination was a small fishing town until recently. Located on the Eastern coast of Malta Islands is this bustling town crowded with innumerous hotels, restaurants, casinos and night clubs. The place was earlier utilized by the riches of Valletta to escape the heat during the summer season as it lies attached to the Northern border of Valletta.
St Julian is famous for some of the scenic bays. St Julains Bay consisting of smaller bays such as Spinola Bay, Exiles Bay and Balluta Bay. Spinola Bay is the most prominent among them featuring the integrity of Maltese fishermen tradition along with modern interventions from the tourism sector. The place is crowded with restaurant and apartments rendering a picturesque bay view. The place is ideal for open air dining while gazing at the jubilant sea front. The shoreline is particularly rocky giving way to snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing.
St George’s bay another popular tourist spot has been recently renovated by the government turning into it into one of the most spectacular beaches in Malta. St. George’s bay is also awarded the blue flag for passing the stringent quality and maintenance assessments.
St Julian is comparatively a modern township of Malta providing all sorts of accommodation suiting to all budget types. All big and small star rated hotels are commonly found here. Owing to its popularity, the town is thoroughly connected through bus routes with the rest of Malta.
Paceville is a peninsular suburb lying on the North of St Julians on a low yet steep hill. The area is known for its extravagant nightlife and is often referred to as the nightlife capital of Malta. The place is flooded with bars, restaurants, clubs and hotels with loud music pouring out as you walk across the Paceville streets. There are ample of shops found lined up along the streets selling some of the funkiest fashion accessories and clothes.
Paceville offers a more dominant and energetic nightlife popular among the youngsters and young at heart people whereas St Julians is known for it more contained nightlife. The nightclubs at Paceville starts to stuff at around 9:30 pm and with the increased demand in the summer months special bus services are rendered to Paceville.
Portomaso Marina in Paceville is an attractive harbor area newly created cutting down the cliffs. The harbor area comprises of 3-4 levels with each of the level segregated based on the activities it is pertaining to. There are steep steps and lifts connecting the different levels. The street level is rowed with many renowned hotels and accommodations. Another most visited attraction of this place is the Dragonara Casino. The casino was once the summer palace of the nobles.
The local resident of St Julians and Paceville are lively and colorful. The bewilder number of restaurants scattered all over the place offers almost all international cuisines from Mediterranean to Malaysian, Italian and Chinese. Fast food ventures are equally easy to locate.
With some of the striking concerts and shows taking place in Paceville regularly it is emerging as the most frequented tourism place. Paceville is well connected to St. Julians, Sliema and Valletta with regular bus routes.
